Odionwere Dissolves Okaighele’s Cabinet in Obazuwa Over Alleged Misconduct
BENIN CITY — The Odionwere of Obazuwa community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, Pa Roland Aimuamwosa Oyenmwense, has dissolved the cabinet of the community’s Okaighele, Odaro Peace Ibizugbe, over alleged acts of gross misconduct.
The decision, announced in a statement personally signed by Pa Oyenmwense and made available to journalists in Benin City, followed a general meeting of elders and community members held at the Odionwere’s compound on Tuesday, December 9, 2025.
According to the statement, the dissolved Okaighele was accused of engaging in “abominable acts,” including the creation of unauthorized community boundaries without the knowledge or approval of the Odionwere, the elders, or the Benin Royal Palace.
He was also alleged to have encroached on land allocated to the Oba of Benin Kingdom in the community, an act described as a sacrilege and a violation of long-standing traditional norms.
The Odionwere warned members of the public to refrain from engaging in any land transactions or other dealings with the sacked Okaighele, insisting that anyone who does so “does so at his or her own risk.”
Pa Oyenmwense stressed that the dissolution became necessary to protect the sanctity of the community’s traditional leadership structure and maintain peace and order in Obazuwa.
