UNIBEN Vice Chancellor engages NELFUND officials to boost student enrolment in loan scheme
In line with his student-centered initiatives, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Benin (UNIBEN), Professor Edoba Omoregie, SAN, recently met with officials of the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) in Abuja to discuss expanding the enrolment of UNIBEN students into the scheme.
Professor Omoregie expressed concern over the current low enrollment numbers and called for more opportunities to benefit a greater number of students.
Mr. Mustapha Iyal, Executive Director of Operations at NELFUND, who received the Vice Chancellor, along with other officials, congratulated Professor Edoba on his well-deserved appointment.
He cited inadequate sensitization and doubts about the authenticity of the fund as key reasons for the low enrollment figures.
However, Mr. Iyal assured that NELFUND was ready to include as many UNIBEN students as possible, provided they apply and meet the scheme’s guidelines.
As part of his broader networking agenda, Professor Omoregie is also expected to visit other organizations to further advocate for students' welfare, it was gathered
