PDP Debunks Oshiomhole's Claims on Asue Ighodalo's Candidacy in Edo Governorship Race
The People's Democratic Party (PDP) Strategic Team has refuted claims made by former Edo State Governor and current Senator representing Edo North, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole of the APC, regarding Asue Ighodalo’s candidacy in the upcoming September 21, 2024, Edo State governorship election.
Oshiomhole cited a recent Federal High Court ruling in Abuja to assert that Ighodalo is not the PDP candidate.
In response, Dr. Pedro Obaseki, Deputy Director of Strategic Communications for the Asue/Ogie Campaign Council, clarified during a press briefing at the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Press Centre in Benin City, Edo State that Asue Ighodalo remains the PDP's legitimate candidate.
Dr. Obaseki emphasized that the court did not disqualify Ighodalo, but instead ruled in his favour.
He criticized the APC as a "failed party" attempting to mislead the people of Edo State with "uncharitable words" and pointed out that the APC’s candidate avoids direct engagement with the electorate, choosing instead to communicate through proxies.
Dr. Obaseki also condemned the age discrepancies of the APC candidate, Senator Monday Okpebolo, labeling it a dishonest act.
He therefore urged the people of Edo State to support Asue Ighodalo, highlighting his business acumen and experience as assets for the state's transformation and betterment.
