NUJ Chairman Advocates Stronger Ties with Nigeria Immigration Service
The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, has called for the continued strengthening of the relationship between the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) and the union.
During a courtesy visit to the command headquarters in Benin City, Comrade Alenkhe emphasized the importance of the visit in reinforcing the existing cordial relationship.
He urged the NIS to intensify its efforts in addressing the issue of illegal immigration as a means to curb crime in the state.
In response, the Comptroller of NIS, Edo State Command, Mr. Martins Monyei, expressed his gratitude for the visit.
He described the NIS as an elite government agency responsible for issuing international passports, travel documents, and handling other security-related matters.
Mr. Monyei called for a collaborative effort with the NUJ on migrant issues, particularly in raising awareness among Nigerian youths about the dangers of irregular migration, which has resulted in many tragic losses of life.
