87 Countries, 200 Traditional Rulers to Attend Esama of Benin's 90th Birthday

A total of 87 countries and over 200 traditional rulers from across Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory will attend the 90th birthday celebration of the Esama of Benin, Chief Gabriel Osawaru Igbinedion.

Chief Igbinedion announced this during a luncheon at his residence for journalists in Edo State. The event was organized to formally inform members of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council, about the upcoming celebration in four weeks and to seek their support in covering the event.

Expressing gratitude to the journalists for their continued support, Chief Igbinedion emphasized his role as a patron of the union and his commitment to its values. He also reflected on his positive impact over the years and thanked God for His grace upon his life.

In response, NUJ Edo State Council Chairman, Comrade Festus Alenkhe, thanked the Esama for his fatherly support and recognized his role in setting standards and elevating Edo State on the global stage.

Nigeria and Africa must return to the use of clay vessels for cooking, eating and drinking if the continent is to tackle rising public health challenges and reduce billions spent on disease treatment, a university don has said. Delivering the 134th Inaugural Lecture of Ambrose Alli University (AAU), Ekpoma, Edo State, Professor Emmanuel Eghe Egbon, a scholar of Analytical and Environmental Chemistry, urged Nigerians to embrace clay as a multifunctional earth material that promotes healthier living and sustainable communities.
