Federal might 'll not determine winner of Edo poll - LP Chieftain

A chieftain of the Labour Party in Edo State, Chief Patrick Osagie Eholor has said that federal might cannot determining the winner of the September 21, 2024 Edo governorship election.

Eholor, otherwise known as Ultimate Equal, in a chat with newsmen at the NUJ Press Centre in Benin City said that the Labour Party is better positioned to win the election.

According to him, "If we conduct an election now, the Labour Party will win," and therefore advised the federal government not to interfere in the election.

While urging INEC to remain truly unbiased umpire by allowing Edo people to vote their choice candidate the on election day, Eholor also urged the electoral umpire to make the Edo election as reference point of what to expect in subsequent elections in the country by making the exercise credible, free and fair.

He cautioned security agencies not to let politicians use them for dirty jobs, reminding them that their duty is to maintain law and order in order to ensure that the election is free and fair

He remarked that the perceived crisis in the Labour Party would not affect the party's chances of winning the election as efforts are on to resolving the crisis amicably.

According to him, having sacrificed so much resources to build the party, the question of leaving the party does not arise.
