Lady Pharmacists Conference opens in Benin

The 16th Biennial Conference of the Association of Lady Pharmacists (ALPs), with the theme, "Pharmacy: Making Health Care Impact in Tandem with 2030 Sustainable Development Goals" has commenced in Benin City, Edo State.
It is expected to end on Saturday May 18, 2024.
Wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs Betsy Obaseki, represented by the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Sandra Godwin Omobayo in her remarks, said that the role of lady pharmacists has become more pivotal in reshaping health care delivery in Edo State
The National Chairman of ALPs, Pharm. Scholastical Mnena Lan said that the nation is plagued with a high burden of health care needs and much of health care delivery is dependent on the quality of health care products and commodities.
She said that "the adoption of the 2030 agenda for Sustainable Development opened new opportunities to work towards healthy outcomes for all through government and societiey/community approaches."
The Chairman of the Central Planning Committee (CPC), Dr Rametu Momodu said that the theme for this year's conference underscores the pivotal role Lady pharmacists in shapingvthe future of health care while contributing to global sustainable goals.
According to her, the conference theme emphasises the essence of embracing change and innovation, recognising challenges as opportunities for growth
The Vice Chancellor, University of Benin, Professor Lilian Salami in her keynote address underscores the importance of pharmacists in the society.
According to her, pharmacists play pivotal role in advancing Goal 3 of the Millenium Development Goals.
Such role, she said include,censuring access to essential medicines and optimising medication use to improve health care.
She noted that pharmacists are critical in managing supply chain and ensuring the availability of essential medicines, a fundamental aspect of Universal Health coverage.
