Obaseki charges women to prepare for leadership role

The wife of Edo State Governor, Mrs Betsy Obaseki has charged women in the society to improve on themselves so as to become more relevant in the society. 

Mrs Obaseki made the call  at a ceremony organised in Benin City by the John Odigie-Oyegun Public Services Academy (JOOPSA) to mark the 2024 International Women's Day with the theme, "Inspire Inclusion: Empowering Women in Public Service through Inclusive Leadership."

According to her, women need to grow and educate themselves so as to inspire the right leadership needed to grow the society.

She lauded the state government for providing the enabling environment for women in the state to strive for excellence, saying that the society desires women who mean well for the society.

The Director General of JOOPSA, Mrs Precious Imuwahen Ajonu in her remarks said that women have played pivotsl role in policy formulation and championing the course for social justice in the society.

Acknowledging that much work still needs to be done for women to take their rightful place in the society, she expressed the need to celebrate the achievrments of women who have excelled in various areas of human endeavour.

Notwithstanding the challenges faced by women in leadership role, she said that collective efforts would inspire a new era of leadership, characterised by collaboration and empathy.
