Obedient Movement cautions elected LP members against defection

BY ANDY EGBON

BENIN CITY - Five different Support Groups linked to the Obedient Movement in Edo State have cautioned elected members of the Labour Party (LP) in Edo state against their planned defection to the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The elected LP members are Senator Neda Immasuen,  Hon. Iyawe Esosa, Hon. Murphy Immasuen and  Hon Esosa Edosa.

In a statement, the groups stated that the defection plans by the elected LP members were already in the public domain.

The groups therefore urged the elected members to drop the idea as it was not in the best interest of Edo people and other stakeholders across the country, adding that there are negative consequences which they do not wish for any LP member

Such negative consequences, the groups identified to include their seats being declared vacant.

Besides, the group said it is "Unacceptably, condemnable as personal interest is said to be the driving force elevated above party interest," integrity ought to be an integral and  essential quality for leaders to gain the trust and confidence of their constituents; but, unfortunately in Nigeria, political integrity is near non-existent.

"The alleged plans by  Neda Imasuen is the highest betrayal of the Obidient Movement and the teeming LP supporters who willfully voted without accepting any form of inducement."
