Edo UTQEN gets new EXCO






BENIN CITY - The new Executive Officers of Union of Tipper and Quarry Employers of Nigeria (UTQEN), Edo State Council have been inaugurated.

Members of the new executive are, Gabriel Osaigbovo, Chairman; Wilson Ogbachi, Deputy Chairman; Michael Eghaghe, Vice Chairman; Innocent Ifebho, Vice Chairman; Abu Dauda, Vice Chairman  and Osagie Ikhu-Omoregbe, Asst. Secretary.

Other are, Jeffrey Nosa Ataga, Treasurer; Odion Mustapha, Financial Secretary; Isaiah Efosa Ewere, Organizing Secretary; Wilson Alekhue, Public Relations Officer; Charles Ogbebor, Welfare Officer; Odion Dennis, Auditor; Godday Ifeanyi Anim, Chief Whip; Beatrice Ugege, Woman Leader/Treasurer, while Osakpamwan Iro, Monday Eitokpemholen and Sunday Ataga are Trustees.

Inaugurating the officers, the National President of UTQEN and the Inspector General of Mines and Quarry, Comrade Aliyu Adewale Mayungbe  said that UTQEN was registered by the Trade Union Congress and the Registrar of Trade Union's, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment under Section 5 of Trade Union Act, Cap T14 of 2005 as amended.

According to him, the jurisdictional scope of UTQEN covers unionization of all workers in the quarry industry and owners of Tippers/Trucks and the drivers; owners of earth moving equipments, heavy duty trucks/tippers, including those engaged in sales and marketing of sand, stones, gravel, granite, laterite, gold and limestone.

He therefore urged operators in the industry to embrace government so as to qualify to benefit from the solid mineral grant and extension services.

The Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Edo State, Mrs Olugbami Olutoyin, represented by the Snr. Labour Inspector in the Ministry, Eghieye Augustine urged the new executive to see their new role as a call to service.

The Secretary, Trade Union Congress, Comrade Kingsley Igiehon said the union would accord ETQEN a fence of belonging.

In his acceptance speech, the UTQEN Chairman, Edo State, Comrade Gabriel Osaigbovo thanked members of the union for the confidence reposed in him and sued for their support to achieve his vision for the union.
