Edo NUJ expresses commitment to promote entertainment industry

BENIN CITY - The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State Council has expressed its readiness to collaborate with the Creative Designers Guild of Nigeria (CDGN) to promote the entertainment industry.

Speaking when the leadership of the guide paid him a courtesy visit at the NUJ Press Centre in Benin City, Chairman of the union, Comrade Festus Alenkhe said that the union is very passionate about bringing quality entertainment to every household.

According to Alenkhe, the entertainment industry is helping to reposition the minds of vulnerabe Nigerians  towards positive outlook to life.

President of CDGN, Mrs Joy Osawaru Akinyemi said that the visit to NUJ was to introduce members of the guide ahead of inauguration on September 29, 2023, and as well seek the cooperation of the union in the  promotion of the creative designers industry.

According to her, the "Creative Designers Guide of Nigeria is the power behind Nollywood Nollywood is the power behind Nollywood. Most times, you may not see us on your screen but we are behind the camera, even though most of us are actors as well.

"We make the actors get into character and enhance their good delivery and we make the stars to shine.   

"We are make-up artists, costume designers and props. We make things happen. Before you see an actor or an actress in a particular costume, it must have been designed and recommended by a custumer who defines what the actors or actresses would wear for the roles designed for them in a particular movie.

"With our creative ingenuity, we create the kind of scenery we desire for a particular movie.

"Sometimes, we go to the villages and sometimes we go to the bush to create a scene that befits the impression we need to create."
